Our Last Blog Post

It's been a short, but busy week.
Here are a few things we got up to.

Falcon, the guide dog, who lives at Brooke's house, came to visit us when he was 14 weeks old. This week we met him again. Now he is 9 months old.

We weeded the Kea Garden
and planted beans, corn, spinach and celery.

We made snow globes

We made Christmas boxes with Room 31.
Some Room 9 children came to help us.

Packed up for the last time.

We hope you've enjoyed our blog. It's been a busy year learning and having fun.
Now we're ready for our new class, our new teacher and new friends.

The Big Mystery

What do you think when you arrive at school and find a large, heavy Christmas parcel sitting on the mat?

We found a present in our room. It is a mystery.

Santa flew to Cockle Bay. Santa brought it in the sleigh.

I think Mrs Claus brought it on her husband's sleigh.

We don't know what is inside the present. I think it's a puzzle box.

Oooooh! A present? I wonder what it is?  I wonder how it got here?

"I wonder what's in the present?" I said to Mrs O'Callaghan.

What is in the present? I don't know.

I think Mrs Todd left it because Grayson saw Mrs Todd at Room 29.

I don't know how this present got here and I think it is a yellow submarine.

I think Santa pushed it in the room.

I WONDER what is in the present? I think it is a lot of cats.

I thought that it got delivered to the wrong place.

How did it feel lifting the present?
  • It is quite heavy
  • There was some straining at the knees
  • Sometimes it took 2 to lift it
  • We couldn't see the faces of the shorter children
  • Some children nearly fell over from the size and weight of it.
  • You can't hold it for too long.

We went for a walk and a talk with a friend talking about the mystery of the present left in our room.

Who left it in Room 29? How did it get here? What is inside?

We made a word bank to help us write.

Gloop

Today we made gloop from cornflour and water. Then we talked about what happened. When we wrote about the gloop we used adjectives and similies.

We would like to share some of our writing with you.

The Crumbly Gloop
The crumbly gloop is like zombie skin and it is like green rain if you flip it over. It felt hard and soft.   Louis

The Green Gloop
The gloop was sticky and this is how you make it. You put powder in first, then green water. Then you crunch it up and then it goes crumbly. Next, you put more water so it will be gloopy. And then you have to wash your hands and you sit by Room 31. It looks like green water.    Chelsea

The gloop looks like green rain.   Grayson

The gloop looked like zombie skin.   Ciaan

I looked at the gloop and it felt soggy because it had water in it.        Hayden

The gloop looked like a snail's gloop melting.   Jordan

Gloop is like green snail's slime. It looks like green rain. It feels like icecream.      Emily M.

Gloopy Maloopy
The gloop was slimy like trashpack slime. Do you think that it's yucky? It looks like a waterfall.   Rafferty

The gloop drips from my hands and it looks like zombie skin.   Mackenzie

Gloop
Green rain is gloop. It looks like green slime and if feels like hard rain dripping from my fingers.    Alex

Squishy Gloop
We made gloop. The gloop is like zombie skin. It felt hard. It is green. We made it with green water and powder. It dripped from my fingers.   Kyan

Green Gloop
The gloop is green and it is dripping from my hands. It looks like green glue and it looks like icecream dripping. We did it at school. It feels like soft glue.  Tayla

The Green Gloop
When I touch the gloop it was sticky for me. When I clapped it off my hands it went off. It was yucky for me. It was green and it was sticky.    Brooke

Gloop Melting From My Hands
The gloop is looking like melted snail shell. It felt slimy. It was yucky.   Chad
