Pollution in the Sea

This week the children have been learning how polluted oceans affect the animal life that live there.

They know a lot about this problem and have opinions about how people can help save the animals that live in the sea. Just ask them.

The children might like to tell you about turtles in New Zealand waters and the difficulties they have surviving amongst the floating plastics.

Here are some stories the children wrote about pollution in the oceans.

Dolphins Eat Rubbish Plastic

It’s not good for them. They will die and they can’t drink water. They will die. People shouldn’t drop rubbish or it will go in the water.   Brooke

The turtle eats the plastic and he dies.  Grayson

The people throw plastic in the water and turtles eat it.   Amelia

The Pollution

If the fish eat plastic they can die because they think plastic is jellyfish. The Kelly Tarlton people can fix them and throw them back into the water. People should not put rubbish in the water because it will make the animals sick.    Tayla

Floating Oil

The oil floated in. The rubbish flew and flew and flew out of the bin and into the ocean. People keep putting rubbish in the ocean. Pick it up! The animals get sick. They think it is food.   Rafferty

Oil in the Ocean

When the animals in the ocean eat the pollution stuff they die. But, the Kelly Tarlton’s people come and help them. They think it’s their food. People shouldn’t drop rubbish.   Kyan

Pollution can kill sea animals and they get sick because rubbish come out of the drain. People shouldn’t do that.   Chad

The turtles are eating plastic and juice bottles. When the turtles eat plastic and juice bottles sometimes people swim out to sea and help the turtles. They think the plastic and juice bottles are jellyfish.  Chelsea

In the ocean animals eat plastic because they think it’s jellyfish and they die and they sink down to the bottom of the sea.   Lexi

The people put rubbish in the sea and turtles eats it.   Hayden

Animals in the sea have problems because people put things in the sea and if someone doesn’t find the sick animals then they will die. They will die and that’s why people shouldn’t put rubbish in the sea.   Emily J.
